The veggies are small tiles fired onto the base in the final firing. Each individual piece is initially glazed and fired with 3 layers of different glazes to get a nice depth of color. Then each piece comes to life with the black detail lines to define the veggies and lettering. This is covered with a clear glaze and fired again. Each piece goes through the kiln 3 times, bisque, glaze, detail glaze. These plaques are a great housewarming gift, or a reminder to Eat Your Veggies! They come ready to hang as pictured here. Plaque size is 5 3/8" x 3 3/8". The hanger adds another 2 1/2".
